ALTRAZEAL®

Altrazeal® Transforming Powder Dressing is a sterile, innovative wound care product designed to support optimal healing conditions across a wide range of acute and chronic wounds. Utilizing a unique powder-to-film technology, Altrazeal® transforms upon hydration to form a flexible, conformable, oxygen-permeable matrix that protects the wound while supporting the body’s natural healing processes.

Key Characteristics:

  • Transforming Powder Technology: A sterile, non-resorbable powder that hydrates with saline or wound exudate to form a skin-like protective matrix directly on the wound surface.
  • Moisture & Exudate Management: Maintains an ideal moist wound environment while allowing controlled moisture vapor transmission, helping to reduce the risk of maceration.
  • Protective Barrier: Forms a continuous interface that helps protect the wound from external contaminants while remaining permeable to oxygen.
  • Extended Wear Time: Designed to remain in place for up to 30 days, reducing the need for frequent dressing changes.

Mechanism of Action:

Upon application to a clean and moistened wound bed, the powder irreversibly hydrates and aggregates, transforming into a flexible, conforming matrix. This matrix adapts to the wound contours, balances moisture, and supports granulation and epithelialization while maintaining a protective barrier over the wound.

Indications for Use:

Altrazeal® is indicated for the management of a broad range of wound types, including:

  • Surgical wounds: incisions, dermatological excisions, dehisced wounds, and skin graft donor or recipient sites
  • Traumatic wounds: burns, abrasions, lacerations, avulsions, and skin tears
  • Chronic wounds: diabetic foot ulcers, venous and vascular ulcers, pressure injuries, and wounds in compromised healing conditions

Clinical Benefits:

  • Supports an optimal wound healing environment
  • Reduces dressing change frequency and associated wound disturbance
  • Enhances patient comfort through a flexible, conformable wound interface
  • Simplifies wound care management and reduces overall treatment burden
